CHCP wanted to move two of their community services from an existing location on Beverley Road to a more suitable and modern location.

Citycare was able to support CHP in reviewing the potential estate solutions and provide a recommendation based on the best possible solution.

Citycare identified the unoccupied space within the Calvert Centre as an ideal location for the service delivery. The option made best use of the available space within the LIFT estate while also providing an optimal estate solution for the community service.

It was imperative that the programme was delivered to the agreed timescales to align with the existing service’s lease expiry date. To achieve the project timescales requested by CHCP, the project team worked collaboratively to achieve the required completion date.

This involved the early engagement of the construction partner to accelerate the development phase of the project and seamless transition from the development to construction phase.

The Calvert Centre remained operational throughout the project. To avoid disruption to operational services, work was planned to segregate and contain it to areas away from the live environments.

Products were selected which offered longevity and a consideration to lifecycle costing, providing value for money, such as vinyl flooring, carpeting, long lasting units and splash back tiles added in the kitchen to protect the walls.

The design of the space considered future use and adaptability to ensure the estate solution can accommodate future requirements.

Shared Agenda acted as Employers Agent on the project, ensuring quality, contract and cost control were managed on the scheme.

A thorough risk management plan was put in place throughout the contract, paying particular regard to the live environment within which the work was carried out. Bi-weekly newsletters were distributed to local residents and the project team to provide regular and up to date communications.

Following the completion of the project, the project team conducted a project evaluation to identify areas of improvement and which practices to repeat going forward.

The scheme was delivered on time and, crucially, within the critical CHCP timescales.
It was delivered within budget and there were no accidents recorded during the delivery of the project.
